"Under the Influence" a new musical that I co-composed, will be produced in the OUTwright Theatre Festival in Portland, Oregon June 18th - June 28th.
Under the Influence follows an array of Anitas (Anita Smoke, Anita Drink, Anita Lay) as she sings her way through a variety of vignettes centered on vices and
addictions all orchestrated by an Emcee who infiltrates her many incarnations as the enabling antagonist every addict needs. Under the Influence is, on the surface, a
campy comedy but underneath, it is both a lampooning and lambasting of the inhumane, greed-driven, corporate capitalism that not only perpetuates our addictions, but
also invents them.
Book and lyrics by Ernie Lijoi, music by Ernie Lijoi, Lawrence Rush and Kevin Laursen.

Hi everyone,
I just returned from a fully staged workshop performance of my musical
"Winter of the Fall" which was done at Illinois Wesleyan University. It
was an amazing experience and, with the collaboration of the director
Scott Susong, the students and myself, the show has gotten to level I
never thought possible. I had kept it in a box the last 10 years, believing
the show to be too problem-ridden to be fixed, but with the help of these
wonderful, talented people, many of the problems have been fixed and I'm
excited to continue working on it. Below is a link to an on-line interview
the school did with me about the show and the process. Some mis-quotes and
mistakes aside, it is a nice interview, I believe.
